Get hands-on with the Association of Anaesthetists, Royal College of Surgeons and British Dental Association

The Anaesthesia Heritage Centre is hosting a day of hands-on workshops for GCSE school groups interested in careers in medicine and healthcare in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Dental Association.

The anaesthetists will be demonstrating intubation with a video-streaming laryngoscope, whilst the dentists will be pulling out teeth and the surgeons will be suturing wounds – all on manikins and skin pads, we should say. Demonstrating these essential medical skills will show students the practical side of medicine and allow them to experience these tricky techniques for themselves.

There will also be a short museum tour of the Anaesthesia Heritage Centre where students will get up close and personal with old anaesthetic machines.
