Our approach to cookies

The MED website does not use non-essential cookies. We do not set advertising, marketing, or behavioural tracking cookies. We do not use third-party cookie-based analytics.

As a result, we do not display a cookie consent banner, as none is currently required under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) for this Site.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or track behaviour across websites. They are governed in the UK by PECR alongside the UK GDPR.

Technical storage

Some essential technical storage may occur as a side-effect of normal web browsing, even without cookies being explicitly set by us. For example:

• Browser caching— your browser may cache static assets (images, fonts, scripts) to improve page load times. This is controlled by your browser, not by MED.
• HTTPS and security— secure connections may involve short-lived session identifiers managed at the network level by our hosting provider (Vercel). These are not used to track you.

This kind of technical storage is strictly necessary for the site to function and does not require consent under PECR.

Vercel Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics (provided by Vercel, Inc.) to understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate. Vercel Analytics is designed to be privacy-preserving: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual users in a persistent way, and does not build individual visitor profiles. It records only aggregated, anonymised data such as page views and referrer information.

Because Vercel Analytics does not set cookies and does not rely on persistent identifiers, it does not require consent under PECR. We mention it here for full transparency. You can read more in Vercel’s Analytics privacy documentation.

Third-party embeds and external content

The MED website does not embed third-party content (such as YouTube videos, social media feeds, or advertising) that would introduce third-party cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy before any such content is added.

Your browser controls

You can manage and delete cookies using your browser settings at any time. Most browsers also allow you to block all third-party cookies. Because we do not set non-essential cookies, adjusting these settings will not affect your experience of the MED website.

Changes to this policy

If we introduce new features that involve cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy before doing so and, where required by law, obtain your consent. We will update the “Last updated” date above when changes are made.
